Semantic Interoperability in Disaster Preparedness
I created an infographic demonstrating how semantic interoperability supports disaster response, using Hurricane Harvey as a real-world example. I explained how shared data standards like FHIR and standardized terminologies improve communication between hospitals, EMS, and public health agencies, and highlighted how interoperable systems protect continuity of care during emergencies.

Explanation:
This infographic looks at how semantic interoperability affected hospitals during Hurricane Harvey, so it's mostly about information exchange under pressure. Comparing hospitals that kept functioning EHRs versus those that lost access shows evaluating the impact of health information exchange and interoperability on patient care (8.4g). Highlighting problems like missing medication histories and slowed triage shows evaluating what happens when technology and information flow break down (8.1h). Because this is disaster-specific, tying it to hurricane response also touches on initiating rapid response to protect population health during an emergency (3.6f). And since the piece looks at how fragmented systems slowed down care across hospitals and EMS, it also reflects analyzing system-wide processes to improve outcomes (7.1g).
